Does the Cinebody S6 work with phones other than iPhone?
The Cinebody S6 is currently only compatible with the iPhone 6 & 6s. We are looking into expanding to additional iPhone versions as well as other smartphones in the future!
Does the Cinebody S6 capture Super8 quality or HD?
It captures both! The Cinebody App allows you to customize your shot for any occasion. Film at 18fps for Super 8 quality, or film as high as 240 fps for super slow mo, HD footage. See what your iPhone can film here.
Is Cinebody S6 the Lumenati CS1?
Yes! The Lumenati CS1 was the former name for our product. It is now the Cinebody S6!
What type of lenses does the Cinebody S6 use?
The Cinebody S6 is compatible with all 58mm auxiliary lenses. You can purchase our 0.45x Wide Angle or 2x Telephoto Lenses on our home page, or simply attach one of your own!
The phone slides in sideways but the Cinebody S6 records straight on. What gives?
Great question! The Cinebody S6 uses precisely placed mirrors to redirect the iPhone camera to film straight on. We then use magnification technology to allow you to view what you’re filming in our patent-pending viewfinder. Pretty cool, huh?
Does the viewfinder actually work?
Damn straight it does! While in Case Mode the Cinebody App allows you to use the digital viewfinder to help you record in extreme light. Just plug in the case to activate Case Mode and look through the viewfinder. It’s that simple.
What frames per second will the Cinebody S6 shoot?
The Cinebody App will let you switch between shooting in 240, 120, 60, 30, 24, and 18 frames per second. We made a nifty charts (see below) to show you which frames per second (fps) work with which resolutions for which iPhones.
Can I use camera accessories (lights, microphones, etc.) with the Cinebody S6?
Absolutely! You can accessorize the Cinebody S6 to your heart’s desire. Easily attach lights, microphones or handles to the cold shoe mount to enhance your filming experience. We’re a fan of adding a handle and removing the pistol grip for on-the-go shots. We call that Sport Mode.
Does the Cinebody S6 work with the iPhone 6 Plus/ 6s Plus?
Unfortunately, the Cinebody S6 is only compatible with the iPhone 6 and 6s.
How does the trigger & microphone work?
The microphone is powered by the trigger (red button on the case). When you press the trigger, it locks into place like a ball-point pen. This turns on the microphone and starts recording video. To turn the microphone off and stop recording, simply press the trigger again to unlock it. Easy breezy.
How do I remove my iPhone from the Cinebody S6?
First, make sure the safety latch is turned up and the red cable is unplugged before trying to remove your iPhone. Then, slide your iPhone out by pressing your thumbs on the iPhone's screen and sliding it up towards the rear of the case.
How do I remove the red cable from my iPhone?
When removing the red cable (the headphone jack) from your iPhone, we recommend pulling it straight out by holding on to the actual jack itself. Do not pull on the coiled section to remove the cable.
Video is recording, but not audio. What gives?
No need to fret. This may happen if the Cinebody S6 gets out of sync with the Cinebody App. First, unplug the red cable. Second, press the trigger (red button) on the case to make sure it is in the off position (expanded/outermost position). Then, plug the red cable back in. Boom! You’re good to go.
Why are my videos showing dark and/or blurry borders around the edges?
This is called vignette shadowing. To get technical, it is an effect that occurs when a rectangular screen surface is recorded through a round lens. It’s a challenge found in all cameras. We’ve corrected this issue with our lens settings toggle in our app, so you should not see any vignetting.
If you are experiencing this issue, check to make sure the iPhone is pushed all the way into the case. That should solve the problem. If not, please email us at email@example.com.
Why am I getting a vignette shadow on the left side of my clip but not on the right?
This is a sign that the iPhone camera lens is not aligned correctly with the front mirror inside the case. Make sure your iPhone is fully inserted into the case and that the safety latch easily locks in place. Most of the time, pushing the iPhone in a tiny bit more fixes this.
Will my iPhone fit in the Cinebody S6 if it has a screen protector?
The Cinebody S6 is designed to securely hold and properly align your iPhone in the case. The tolerances to maintain this are pretty precise. Since there are multiple screen protectors with multiple thicknesses, some screen protectors will work in the Cinebody S6 and some will not.
Will my iPhone fit in the Cinebody S6 if it has a case?
No. You must take your iPhone 6 or iPhone 6s out of its current case in order to use it with the Cinebody S6.
Does the Cinebody S6 use batteries?
Yes, the Cinebody S6 uses a small CR2450 3V coin cell battery to power the microphone. All you need is a small phillips screwdriver to open the battery cover and swap out the battery for a new one. You can find these batteries at most convenience and grocery stores.
Is the Cinebody S6 waterproof?
No, the Cinebody S6 is currently not waterproof. But stay tuned...we have some cool stuff in the works.
Is something broken if the door latch pops off the case?
Not at all! The door latch has been designed to safely release to avoid breaking. If this happens, simply press the ball end of the latch back into the case to snap it back into place.
How do I clean the front mirror?
Use the Cinebody lens cloth, or any microfiber lens cloth, to gently clean the front mirror of your Cinebody S6. Use a small amount of water or lens cleaner if needed, but make sure to apply it on to the lens cloth and not on the actual mirror.
I live outside of the United States. Can I order a Cinebody S6?
You bet! We can ship the Cinebody S6 anywhere in the world where UPS delivers. Shipping charges are calculated at checkout. For international customers, duties and taxes are not included. Those are to be paid by the customer upon delivery.

How do I create my first new project?
The first time you open the Cinebody App it will ask you to create your first new project. By default, the first project will be named “My Project 1.”
How do I change the name of my new project?
To change the name of your project, simply click the title of the project in the lower left corner and select the title at the top of the screen. The keyboard will appear and you can rename your project to your heart’s desire.
How do I create a new project?
You can create a new project by tapping the plus sign icon in the lower left hand corner of the screen, followed by tapping the larger plus sign icon. Additionally, you can view and select your other projects in the same screen.
In Case Mode these buttons move to the lower right hand side of the screen.
How do I view my projects?
You can view projects by tapping the plus sign in the lower left corner of the screen. If you click the three dots icon, you can export your project to your iPhone camera roll or delete it.
How do I record clips?
Tap the red record button in the top right corner of the screen to start/stop recording. A counter will indicate the length of video you are recording. In Case Mode, simply press in the trigger to start recording & press in again to stop recording. Click here for more information.
How do I quickly autofocus and auto-expose my shots?
Tap anywhere on the record screen to enable working autofocus and auto-expose for that area.
How do I lock/unlock autofocus and auto-exposure?
Hold down any area of the record screen to lock autofocus and auto-expose on that area. Tap anywhere on the screen to unlock and reset the focus and exposure. This functionality currently does not work in Case Mode (we're working on it!)
How do I manually adjust my focus and exposure?
There are two ways to manually adjust focus and exposure. Option 1 is to tap the A button in the lower right corner of the screen. Doing that will turn the A (auto) to M (manual), activating the manual controls. Simply tap and drag the focus (horizontal) and exposure (vertical) rulers to manually customize your shot. Option 2 is simply tapping and holding an area on the screen. That will lock focus and allow you to customize your shot accordingly. Tapping again will switch it back to auto.
In Case Mode, the A button is in the lower left hand corner of the screen.
How do I change my frames per second and resolution?
Tap the “FPS” or “RES” button in the top left corner of the record screen to toggle between the options supported by your device. As the FPS and RES are dependent on one another, various devices support various settings. See our nifty charts below:
What's the lightning bolt bottom?
That button turns on the flash on the iPhone. Now, you can easily film in low light settings or at night! Pretty cool, huh?
What’s the square button next to RES in Case Mode?
That button allows you to toggle the viewfinder. Hit it to switch the image preview from the digital viewfinder to the main screen when filming in Case Mode.
What's the "STND" button in Case Mode?
That button is our App lens setting button. The Cinebody App allows you to toggle between standard, wide angle and telephoto lenses to ensure that there is no vignetting or dark borders in your shot. For more information on vignetting, click here.
Why are my clips not downloading or showing up after I record?
If you notice your clips are not saving, the storage space on your iPhone may be full. Delete old photos or video to free up storage space and continue filming.
Where is my work saved?
Cinebody automatically saves footage to the camera roll as well as to a Cinebody album in your photos. It is device specific and does not save to the cloud or an external server.
What do I do if I accidentally delete a video?
As the Cinebody App is device specific, your footage is not saved in the cloud or an external server. This means that when you delete a clip from your camera roll, it will also be permanently deleted in the Cinebody App. Deleting content in the app will also delete the clip from your camera roll.
Why does the app ask me to film in airplane mode?
Setting your iPhone to airplane mode will allow for the clearest and most productive filming sessions. Your battery will last longer and you won't receive any unwanted texts/calls that will interrupt your filming experience.
I heard feedback and static in my video clips. What gives?
With all of the waves traveling throughout the atmosphere these days, it is difficult to avoid occasional microphone and audio interference (feedback and static).
We've taken in depth measures to reduce this as much as possible, but if you happen to notice this occurring we recommend turning on airplane mode while filming. It should eliminate the issue and as a bonus, will help avoid unwanted calls from the in-laws when you're shooting.
How do I leave feedback or report a bug?
To leave feedback, seek support or report a bug, please visit “Support” in the menu or send us an email at email@example.com.
I don’t want to accept Cinebody's End User License Agreement. Can I still use the app?
